Take a look at the weak, drab, "lifeless" photo of synthetic ascorbic acid on the left. While its configuration is basically the same as the Vitamin C from the Shaklee company, and the natural Vitamin C, it looks DEAD, doesn't it? The photo on the right, is natural Vitamin C, the type that we get from red bell peppers, papayas, oranges, lemons, limes, camu camu, acerola berries, rose hips, strawberries, moringa leaves, and many other natural foods. Look how ALIVE it appears! Then, in the center, look at the chromatogram from the Shaklee Vitamin C. While it is not quite as "alive" as the natural Vitamin C, it is FAR brighter and full of color than the results we get from synthetic ascorbic acid. Interesting, no?
When choosing your vitamins, the best ones are made from WHOLE FOODS. When you simply take a "one-a-day" vitamin from most of the major pharmaceutical-type manufacturers, you are ingesting synthetic vitamins and minerals. Do your research, check out different companies' products, and make sure you are getting vitamin and mineral capsules that are from natural, whole foods. Capsules tend to be much better than tablets or pills, as the ingredients are released into your system faster.
Please avoid the "run-of-the-mill", drugstore-type vitamins and minerals. They tend to be cheaply made, and often have undesirable additives in them, as binders and fillers. Choose natural - your body will THANK you!
FOOD SUPPLEMENTS
The health food supplement industry is a HUGE one, and yet I can remember back to when there were very few food supplements on the market. I used to really enjoy reading Prevention magazine, published by the Rodale Press, when the older Rodale was alive. NOW, it basically reads like another other "health" magazine, with advertisements from pharmaceutical companies on every few pages. I guess they sold out to THE PLANNERS after J. I. Rodale passed away in 1971. His son took over the magazine, and it changed dramatically in the next few decades. Recently, Rodale Press was purchased by Hearst Communications, one of the octopus arms of the "establishment". The sale should have been finalized in January, 2018, and then we should see some MORE changes.
I mentioned Prevention magazine, because it used to have really good health information in it, and it was truly a pleasure to read. Eventually, it just became - to me - another vehicle for pushing pharmaceutical drugs. So MANY good things become corrupted...
You may not know it, but a LOT of food supplements have binders and fillers and additives in them that are NOT healthy for a human body. Here are some of them: magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide, modified food starch, cellulose, stearic acid, simethicone, propylene glycol, talc, artificial colors, hydrogenated oils, lead, mercury, PCB's i.e., polychlorinated biphenyls, magnesium silicate, and others. I am sure that most of you KNOW that MERCURY, LEAD, and TALC are toxic elements that you should not be ingesting. If you do NOT, stop reading this and take a few moments to do some research. Then, come back and finish reading.
In addition to the additives in food supplements, some of the main ingredients are not fresh, either - especially from the larger companies. Once health food supplements became very popular, a lot of the pharmaceutical companies jumped on the band wagon and starting manufacturing their own. Never let it be said that the "Powers That Be" miss an opportunity to enrich their holdings. We have seen quite a few small companies be bought out by huge corporations - then, the product changes for the worse. It takes time and effort on your part, to see to it that the health food products you use are pure, free from additives, and fresh. Do your homework!
COFFEE MAKERS
Coffee makers - such a trivial thing, unless you consider all of the millions of people who imbibe coffee every day. What are all of the automatic coffee makers made of? PLASTIC! What are the urns made of? ALUMINUM. What are the percolators made of? WHAT percolators? They're hard to find, unless you don't care about their composition. Let me tell you about my experience...
