(Now, here's a tough case to crack for all of you amateur sleuths out there. Mystery - who OWNS this company, I mean - REALLY?
CLUE #1 - The company's main business is account verification, embossing and encoding ATM cards, check authorization, and electronic fund transfers. At least, they used to. Got that?
CLUE #2 - Two years after the Financial Robbery Bunch was established, better known as the Federal Reserve Bank, this company set out to provide their District Banks with business checks - within 48 hours of receiving the banks' orders. No guess YET?
CLUE #3 - It weathered the 1929 Wall Street fiasco, with barely any signs of perceptible distress.
CLUE #4 - During World War II, George McSweeney, their sales manager, persuaded Washington, D.C. to release its grip on the paper supply, and they printed up the ration forms for the banks. You should all be warm, by now, if you're following me.
CLUE #5 - In the 1950's, Deluxe was one of the very first firms to implement the government's magnetic-ink character-recognition program; much like the UPC code.
CLUE #6 - By 1960, they were selling Deluxe's printing services to about 99% of the U.S. banks.
CLUE #7 - In 1990, Deluxe formed an electronic funds transfer system alliance with SCICON, the largest UK computer service company.
So - detectives, WHO OWNS IT? YOU figure it out. Elementary, my dear Watson!
